I did your amazing 'drawing the human eye' tutorial and did it in charcoal wish some fair results. I am nothing compared to you or likely anyone here, but wouldn't charcoal be a more controllable medium (besides getting absolutely EVERYWHERE).
I really appreciate what you do here,
Thanks a bunch

Re: My Passion » OnlyPencil Drawing Tutorials

THANK YOU for your tutorials. I had a stroke last year and art is one of the few things remaining. I love pencil...what you say is true, it does not have the recognition it should. I am trying to apply some of your techniques to color pencil (a new medium) and pastel pencil (I can no longer hold large pastels "blocks", with some good results. However, I find both mediums challenging, and I may go back to graphite (I am hoping to sell some of my artwork on Ebay, thus learning these new color mediums). I feel as you do...you can capture any mood, any lighting with pencil. It has the same art worthiness as oils, pastels or watercolor. Your tutorials have helped me recapture some of my skills, and add many new ones. I can't thank you enough!

M.L. I'll be reading and practicing your tutorials all day today. So glad I found them! While I do love the romantic nature of pencil art and will probably always work in the medium, I've also found that understanding pencil art has done wonders for my oil paintings. Be sure to stop in to the Animal Loving Artists group at ebay once in a while, if just to say Hi. We all love to see your latest work and hear about what you've been up to. And thanks for the tutorials and tips! It's just what I need right now! Its a challenge expressing feeling through shades of black and white.Once you have an understanding of this medium, the end results can be incredible.

Re: My Passion » OnlyPencil Drawing Tutorials

I also love using the pencil more than paint or ink or anything else. There's just something about it that draws me in. I'm sure you know what I mean.

I like colored pencils but a drawing in black and white is more appealing to me for some reason. I love the contrast, just as you do.

:)
